Frequently asked questions

EU/EEA and Swiss citizens don’t need a visa or residence permit to live in the Netherlands. Non-EU/EEA citizens generally need a residence permit if staying longer than 90 days, arranged through the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND).

Once you arrived you need to pick up your actual permit at one of the IND branches and this one is valid for the same period as your employment contract.

But, don’t worry about this, we got you!

The easiest way to start is by tapping in and out with a contactless bank card or your phone (Apple Pay / Google Pay) — no registration or Dutch bank account needed. This works nationwide across trains, trams, buses, and metros.
