“Working abroad has always been a dream for me. In 2019, Martijn reached out to me on LinkedIn about an opportunity for a Software QA Manager in the Netherlands. The recruitment process was great! Very informal and easy going, but none the less very professional. Two weeks after Martijns’ message, I had an interview with the end customer and a few weeks later I came to the Netherlands to meet the people in person. Martijn made sure that this trip went very smooth. He gave me a warm welcome and prepared me very well for the meetings. On the same day of the interviews I already heard that I got the job. Martijn made time out of his busy schedule to celebrate this great news with me.
Then, the hard part began.. The whole administrative process in order to get everything arranged for the VISA etc. Again, Martijn helped me a great deal with every step throughout this process.
Finally, the day came that I could travel to the Netherlands. When you’re relocating to a strange country, the first few weeks are the most difficult. Martijn went above and beyond for me to help me out with everything during this period.
He picked me up at the airport, arranged temporary accommodation for me, went with me grocery shopping several times and scheduled several apartment viewings for me. He also went with me to these viewings by the way to provide support. And last but not least, Martijn helped me buy a secondhand washing machine that we had to carry three floors of steps.
Like I told Martijn already several times back then.. What you guys have done for me, my own brother wouldn’t even done that!
